BOTOX®

As we age, lines and wrinkles appear on our skin due to the regular contraction of facial muscles beneath the surface. To treat these lines and wrinkles, a consultation involves analysing the movement of facial muscles and their contribution to the skin's surface. Based on the assessment, different treatments may be suggested.

Benefits of Anti Wrinkle Injections

1

Reduced Wrinkles & lines

Botox is a powerful treatment that reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines while preventing the formation of new ones. It does this by temporarily paralysing targeted muscles in the face, stopping them from contracting.

Botox injections are especially effective when administered on crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead lines, and furrows. These are the areas that people notice first when they face you and are prone to wrinkles due to repeated muscle movements.

2

Enhanced Aesthetics

Perhaps the most interesting benefit of Botox is enhancing an individual’s overall facial aesthetics. By softening the wrinkles and fine lines, the treatment creates a youthful look enriched with natural beauty, making you appear refreshed and rejuvenated.

3

Non-Invasive Procedure

Compared to more invasive cosmetic procedures such as facelifts, Botox injections are a much simpler procedure with little risk involved. our Doctors use a thin needle to inject tiny Botulinum toxin amounts into the skin or muscles. Many patients feel less discomfort during the procedure, and only a little skin numbing is required beforehand. In some cases, small bruising may occur, but it disappears within a few days.

Frequently Asked Questions

What areas can be treated

The most common areas that are requested for treatment include frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet (lines around the eyes).

Our Medical Practitioners are also experts experienced in subtly lifting or reshaping areas of the face, including the brow (to reshape and lift), jaw line (to slim), gummy smile (to lower a top lip and reduce the show of the upper gum), Marionette area (to lift a droopy smile), chin (to reduced dimpled appearance), platysmal bands in the neck (to reduce their visibility), smokers lines (to reduce fine lines along the upper lip) and bunny lines (to smooth the sides of the nose)

What is Botox®?

Botulinum toxin has been used medically in the UK since 1977, and within the cosmetic industry for around 20 years. It is a purified protein which is injected to temporarily relax the facial muscles responsible for causing lines and wrinkles. As the muscles relax, the overlying skin which has been creased tight into fine folds, also relaxes and lines and wrinkles smooth away.

What will the process involve?

Treatment for lines and wrinkles, or re-contouring of the face, will always begin with a consultation to determine the correct treatment for you. If Botox® is appropriate, you will have the opportunity to have your treatment on another day, or if you feel fully informed and comfortable to proceed, the treatment can usually be done the same day.

The procedure itself involves only minor discomfort as we use only ultra fine (disposable) needles. The process takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes. Although mild redness and slight swelling is common immediately after treatment, this usually resolves within 30 minutes. Mild bruising is possible, but for the vast majority of patients, there is no real downtime and most will return to work or their usual daily activities immediately.

Effects begin to show between 3 and 14 days following treatment. We invite our patients back after two weeks to review the results, and make any fine adjustments where necessary. This is considered an integral part of the treatment and does not incur any extra charge.

What aftercare is recommended at home?

We ask that patients avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, excessive heat (such as saunas) and massage of the treated area for 24 hours post treatment. Beyond that, no special precautions need be taken and you can simply look forward to the results of your treatment taking effect.

How long do results last?

Treatment results last an average of 3-4 months, although noticeably longer can be achieved in some cases. It is important to note that Botox® injections to reduce lines and wrinkles or reshape the face is not a permanent solution. Lines, wrinkles and previous facial form will eventually return and further treatments will be required.

When should I start Botox® injections?

People begin to show signs of ageing at different ages. This is largely dictated by genetics and environmental factors. In addition, what might be a concern for one person, might be attractive or even un-noticed by another. As such there is no right answer to this question. What is important is that each individual is assessed on account of their own personal concerns, objectives and medical history. Miss Amber has patients in their twenties through to their eighties. We do not offer treatment to patients under the age of 18.

Is Botox® Safe?

Whilst Botox® used at our clinic has been rigorously tested and has a robust safety record globally, offered to tens of millions of patients over decades; no injectable treatment is without risk. We recommend that you always seek an appropriately trained and highly skilled Medical Professional to administer any injectable treatment. At our MediSpa, only Doctors carry out our Botox® injections.

Who will perform your treatment?

At our MediSpa Clinic your treatment will always be carried out by a Doctor. Miss Amber engages in regular training to remain able, skilled and professional in the treatments she provides. Our Doctors also work within the NHS and undergo regular appraisal and revalidation.

It is important that you feel comfortable with your Doctor, not only in their ability and knowledge, but also on a personal level. We encourage all our patients to make an informed decision on proceeding with treatment once they are comfortable with their impression, their experience and their qualifications.
